DESPITE Drax's annihilation of British Sugar in division one of the HPH York Vale Cricket League, they failed to gain any batting bonus points so their lead over North Duffield is now just 12 points.

And both face each other in what should be the title decider on Saturday at Drax.

Sugar's defeat means they face a relegation battle after being dismissed for just 40, Darren Brinded taking 5-27 for Drax.

After a steady start against Burn, Duffield lost four wickets for 12 runs, eventually struggling to 128 with John Patrick top scoring with 33. Sean Moses grabbed 5-35 for Burn who also collapsed, losing seven wickets for just 20 runs, leaving them 38 runs short. Lee Wild was Duffield's top bowler with 6-33.

Fulfordgate's extras column top-scored in their 142-9 against Wheldrake whose Mark Fearn grabbed 5-72. Wheldrake reached their target losing just two wickets thanks to Anthony Carter who was dropped twice as he scored an unbeaten 95.

Jack Leaning's 48 and Tom Forsdyke's 5-64 was not enough for relegation-haunted Heworth, who lost to Askham Bryan YPO by 42 runs.

Westow are virtually certain to be relegated after losing by 154 runs to Bishopthorpe for whom Ryan Bushell took 5-22 as Westow crumbled to 72.

After a mid-order collapse, division two leaders Heminbrough limped to 104 against Thixendale who found the bowling of Paul Collins (5-13) too much and were skittled out for just 52 in 25 overs.

Copmanthorpe rallied from 44-5 to 154-7 against Ovington thanks to an eighth-wicket partnership of 51. Ovington were in control at 76-2, but two run outs changed the game and accurate bowling from Chris Hall (4-44) and John Hughes saw Ovington end 12 runs short despite Neil Metcalfe's 50.

York reached 151-7 against Stockton & Hopgrove with Matthew Boyle top scoring with 42. Richard Grimes (4-42) starred for Stockton whose Peter Fairclough (44), Grimes (36) and Rich Kerrison (42 no) saw their side home with three wickets to spare in the penultimate over.

Despite beating Stillington, Ben Johnson are one of four teams separated by four points, trying to avoid relegation. Kelfield are at the foot the table after losing to Clifton Alliance, for whom Alistair Wray hit 66 and took 5-33.
