It was a bad day all round for Drax CC as their second team were knocked out of the York Vale League's Scothern Construction Cup.

Malton and Old Malton's batsmen put their bowlers to the sword as Steve Baxter (48), Lynch (58no), James Dawson (50) and Tom Audsley (55) set a total of 262-6. Only Ian Goulden (49) rose to the challenge as Drax fell 92 runs short.

North Cave won a tight game against Thorpe Willoughby. Chasing 113, the Cave were in trouble at 50-5 but rallied to win by three wickets.

Melbourne were dismissed for 186 against Pocklington, Malcolm Harrison making 51 while Andy Walker took 4-17. Pock lost wickets steadily in reaching 92 as Tim Blackmore took 4-19.

Bowlers dominated at Bishopthorpe II where the University Staff made 145-8 thanks to Richard Waites (48) and Guy Mowbray (4-33). Bishops skipper Ben Smith also hit 48, but the Staff juggled their eight bowlers to find the right formula to leave their opponents 16 short.

Ovington had a comprehensive win after dismissing Hirst Courtney for 119, Dave Brummitt taking 4-28. Carl Potter (89no) took the hosts to a nine-wicket win.

Thixendale's Adrian Brader (6-36) ripped through Acomb as they were dismissed for 124 and the home team knocked off the runs in the 23rd over.

Stillingfleet recovered from 21-3 to 144, whereas Askham Bryan YPO II's batting totally fell apart, ending 63 runs short.
