ALL-CONQUERING York are celebrating their seventh successive Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier Cricket League title.

The Clifton Parkers extended their record-breaking championship-winning sequence in sensational style, trouncing visiting Cleethorpes by 193 runs.

York cruised to 325-3 from their 55 overs, with Jack Leaning smashing an unbeaten 120 and Alex Collins ending on 100 not out from a mere 63 balls.

Yorkshire youngster Leaning then claimed 4-31 from 13 overs as Cleethorpes were bowled out for 132, giving York an eight-point victory.

Closest rivals Yorkshire Academy also won, beating Sheffield Collegiate, but they are 19 points adrift with only two games remaining.

York will be bidding to complete a double when they travel to Driffield for the League Cup final on Sunday.

After York won the toss against Cleethorpes, Leaning opened the batting with Duncan Snell and the pair made a flying start.

Snell was out first after making 54 from 57 balls, stumped with the score on 91. Leaning, dropped on 31 and 33, reached his 50 from 85 balls, passing 1,000 runs for the season.

After the dismissal of Liam McKendry (17) and Oliver Hairs (18), Leaning and Collins teamed up for an unbroken stand of 171.

Leaning’s 120 was his sixth century for York and included ten fours and a six. Collins hit six fours and five sixes, moving from 51 to 100 in only 18 balls.

York will be bidding to complete a double when they travel to Driffield for the League Cup final on Sunday, September 8.
