LUNCH UPDATE: Lancashire’s middle to lower order have fought back well during the third morning at Old Trafford.

The Red Rose county are 15 runs away from avoiding the follow on with two wickets still remaining.

Replying to Yorkshire’s 447 all out, Luke Sutton and Kyle Hogg have taken their side to 283-8 from 103 overs at lunch.

Tino Best and Azeem Rafiq have both taken a wicket apiece this morning after Lancashire started the day at 187-6.

Best had Tom Smith caught and bowled off an inside edge as the left hander looked to drive. That left Lancashire at 194-7 in the 69th over.

Off spinner Rafiq then got Glen Chapple (21) caught at a deep mid on by Steve Patterson as the Lancashire captain holed out looking to go over the top.

That left the hosts at 235-8 in the 78th – and Sutton and Hogg have since added an unbroken 48 for the ninth wicket.

Rafiq took the new ball in the penultimate over before the break. Hogg will resume this afternoon on 33 not out and Sutton 29 not out.
