No award was more fitting or richly deserved this season than the one given to Yorkshire groundsman Andy Fogarty and his dedicated team before the start of the Twenty20 Cup match with Derbyshire Phantoms at Headingley Carnegie.
The total washout in the Roses game on the ground meant that no man-of-the-match award was made so Yorkshire quite properly decided that the £200 cheque should be handed over to Fogarty and his band of helpers for the hours they tirelessly put into ensuring at least some play was possible in two of the other home matches.
As far as Yorkshire fans are concerned, Andy Fogarty is one of the best things ever to cross the Pennines.
