YORKSHIRE leg-spinner Adil Rashid has received an early St Valentine's Day message by hearing he has been included in the England A' squad for their month-long tour of Bangladesh which begins on February 14.

And accompanying the 18-year-old all-rounder on the trip will be his Yorkshire colleague, fast bowler Tim Bresnan.

Their selection gives a timely boost to both players because each of them has been troubled by back injuries since the middle of last season.

Rashid grabbed 6-67 on his dream debut for Yorkshire against Warwickshire at Scarborough last July but, after finishing the season with 25 Championship wickets at 25.16 runs apiece, he went down with a stress fracture in his back which caused him to miss the emerging England players' visit to India in the autumn for specialist coaching.

His injury also meant he could not be included on England Under-19s' forthcoming tour of Malaysia, which starts on January 23, but he is now on the road to a full recovery and is building up his fitness in the indoor school at Headingley.

Rashid's inclusion on the tour, which will be led by Sussex's Michael Yardy and includes two four-day games and three one-day matches, is proof England are monitoring his progress closely.

Should he return to England on March 12 with a clutch of wickets, it is not out of the question that he could make his full England debut later this year, either against the West Indies or India.

With Shane Warne generally recognised as the greatest bowler there has ever been, young leg-spinners are to be nurtured and given every opportunity, and England will not be slow to call upon Rashid if he maintains his current progress.

Yorkshire chief executive Stewart Regan said: "Adil's talent and his performances for Yorkshire last season have been recognised by the ECB and I hope he will impress and show what he is capable of achieving.

"Everything is subject to Adil having made a full recovery from his back injury but he is doing well and is raring to go."

Bresnan is among the most promising of the country's crop of young fast bowlers.

His ability was recognised by England last season when he was chosen for the one-day series of internationals against Sri Lanka but he went on to suffer a stress related back injury and missed several Championship matches for Yorkshire before returning for the final game of the season against Durham when he helped his side to avoid relegation.

Bresnan, 21, ended up with 27 Championship wickets and, with England's bowlers having soaked up punishment in Australia, a Test debut could be just around the corner if he can do well on the tour and then grab some early season wickets for Yorkshire.
