THE outcome of a Hunters Cricket League sub-committee meeting on Friday could have a big bearing on the title race in division two.

An inquiry is to be held into the disputed result on Saturday where confusion in the scorebox left Scarborough claiming a two-run victory and opponents New Earswick claiming a tie.

Scarborough currently lie in third place, just one point behind the joint-leaders, having initially been given the victory points.

There was no doubting Scarborough's six-wicket win over in-form Sewerby on Monday. Sewerby made 104, Mike Artly (39) being the one batsman to shine as Ben Lloyd took 6-23, before Nick Tubbs hit 39 in reply and John Dickinson's 25no took the hosts home.

Two relegation-threatened sides gained their second wins of the season, Hovingham having a five-wicket victory over relegated Wilberfoss and Rowntrees pipping Dringhouses by two runs.

Phil Stothard made 93 and his father Mick 43no as Foss made 189-8 but Stuart Prest made 59 in a victorious reply, while I Parnaby (51) and D Whittle (5-43) were the heroes for Rowntrees.
