Crayke Cricket Club have become the latest outfit to cease to function as a league club due to a dearth of players.

Wilberfoss terminated their membership of the York & District Senior League in December when it was evident they would not be able to field a side, although they have continued to operate in the League’s indoor competition during the winter.

Crayke had hoped to be able to fulfil their fixtures but, with just a week to go to the first match, they had less than 11 players on their books and had no alternative but to withdraw from the league leaving their splendid clubhouse unused for the coming season.

It is hoped the club will be able to re-emerge as a competitive outfit sometime in the future with a view to resuming their league participation.
