HUNTERS York & District Senior League leaders Easingwold suffered their first defeat for almost two months as York ended their eight-match unbeaten run with victory at Clifton Park.

Nick Kay finished with 6-38 and Tom Spearman (3-16), as, despite 103 from the league’s leading run-scorer Stephen Piercy, the visitors were bowled out for 165.

That was in response to the hosts' 205, which was built around Adam McCauley’s unbeaten 108, made despite the efforts of Paul Skilbeck (4-39) and Paul Renshaw (3-33).

Clifton Alliance watched the closing stages of their title rivals' defeat, having wrapped up victory across the park against Goole Town.

Simon Williams played the outstanding innings of the match, making 51 in a low-scoring contest as the home side scored 123-5, having bowled out the visitors for just 122, with Scott Hopkinson taking 3-28.

Studley Royal missed the chance to make up ground at the top, going down to a 34-run defeat at home to Beverley Town.

Anthony Spence (86) and Harry Gamble (56), with his second half-century in as many weeks, helped their side reach 223-7.

Rob Mackle took 3-47 and followed it up with fifty, but, despite his efforts and an unbeaten 56 from Joshua Chandler, the home side were bowled out for 189, Kieran Thompson taking 3-42.

Three wickets each from Johnny Anderson (3-31) and Jamie Greavson (3-16) helped bowl Driffield Town to a 94-run victory over Pickering.

Will Norman (59) and Grant Halder (48) had earlier helped the hosts reach 214-8 and, despite a half-century from Isaac Christopher in response, the visitors were never in a position to challenge.

The result lifts Driffield Town up to third but should they make the top two they would be ineligible for promotion with their first string already competing in the Premier League.

Matthew Till scored 107 and Nick Harrison 85, both finishing not out, as Sessay cruised to an eight-wicket win at bottom side Heworth.

The home side looked to be in the game at the break, thanks to Guy Wilkinson (85) and Stephen Lawrence (73no), as they posted 220-6 but, on an excellent batting surface at Elm Park, the bowlers unable to make the necessary inroads.

Bolton Percy travelled to Hull Zingari with both sides in need of a victory to ease their relegation concerns.
