WHITKIRK continue to dominate Division One of the Hunters York & District Senior League, with their 12th victory coming at Sewerby.

The home side could only manage 204-6, despite a fifth-wicket partnership of 126 between Steve Janney (86no) and Adrian Long (42) after Michael O’Brien took 3-46.

The latter then featured in a century stand, making 32 as alongside Mark Murphy (77) as they led the victory charge, Janney’s (4-33) all-round efforts ultimately proving in vain.

Malton & Old Malton put distance between themselves and promotion rivals Harrogate, winning at St George’s Road by four wickets.

Stuart Watmore (4-47) and Thomas Bumby (3-33) bowled out the home side for 154, of which Harry Stothard made 56.

Will Parker (3-45) looked to have got his side back in the contest, taking the first three wickets as the visitors were reduced to 32-4, but a partnership of 85 between Gary Hall (40) and Thomas Bumby (50no) saw them home.

Richard Malthouse hit 113 for Folkton & Flixton against Hornsea and, with 53 each from Robert Lacey and Jake Mcaleese, the home side were able to reach 329-7, Jake Butterworth taking 3-54.

Harry Walmsley (3-60) also took three wickets as the visitors held on eight down with 248 on the board to share the points, thanks largely to 76 from Paul Clappison.

Selby’s Martin Hoyle scored 152 and put on century stands with Lee Wild (49) and Edward Rosa (39) in their 307-7 against Patrington, only Ian Buss (3-52) making any impression for the home side before they were bowled out for 138 in reply, despite a half-century from Stewart Guy (51) as Joe Romaniw finished with 4-33.

Beverley Town won a high-scoring contest at Pocklingotn by six wickets.

Ian Pratt top-scored with 91, and both Ian Gillyon (67) and Liam Feasey (52) made half-centuries as the visitors chased down the home side's 258-8.

Earlier, Connor Bowden (3-53) and Peter Parnaby (3-35) had each taken three wickets, while Richard Readman (56) and Andrew Anderson (72) had helped build what they hoped would be a winning total.

Osbaldwick will be competing in Division Two next season, despite hanging on nine wickets down to avoid defeat at Bridlington.

They had needed to beat their relegation rivals to have any chance of staying up, but all-rounder Simon Leeson sealed their fate with 62 and 3-22.

Anthony Heaton finished unbeaten on 62 as the home side scored 283-5, Sam Thompson then top-scoring with 57 but the visitors could only manage 152-9 in reply.
