There was just cause for jubilation at Wilberfoss where home batsman Julian Atkinson hit his maiden century in division three to grace his side's first league win since the tail-end of 2005.

The opposition on this landmark day was provided by Londesbrough Park whose first innings total of 161 included 48 from Tim Nettleton, 27 from Ben Lewis and 43 by Martin Swann. Des Healey bowled a compelling 12 overs for 5-21.

The spotlight then shone firmly on Atkinson who lost partners with a degree of regularity as Paul Youngman claimed 3-53, but the batsman battled through to make an unbeaten 104 as the first century of his career steered Wilberfoss to a three-wicket win and ended that most miserable barren spell.

Thorp Arch & Boston Spa recorded an eight-wicket triumph at Heworth.

Only Matt Howcroft with 27 made any stance as Mike Linacre took 3-15 and Sam Mottershead 4-30 as the hosts fell for 118. In reply, Andy Hawkswell fell for 26 before Richard Brook with 27no and Mike Cole 35no clinched victory.
