ACOMB are the only Pilmoor Evening CricketLeague first division side to have a 100 per cent record after a remarkable win at Newburgh.

Andy Tute was by far their main scorer as they made 86-8 - Tute contributed 41, but his colleagues found the going difficult against John Thornton (2-15), Dave Taylor (2-18) and Richard Featherstone (3-21).

When Newburgh replied, the Banks brothers seemed to be leading them to victory as James made 27 and Tom 20, but the innings collapsed dramatically from 70-2 to 79 all out as Steve Buckton took 2-9 and Scott Nicholls 3-10.

Thirsk piled up 195-3 when they entertained Sheriff Hutton Bridge with Liam McKendry (83) and Neil Laidlaw (78) scoring freely. Ian Clish (54) and Brendan Ledgeway (56) led a spirited reply for Bridge, but they closed well adrift on 151-5.

Alne beat Sessay, whose youngsters Jacob Spencer (27no) and Ewan Shepherd (21no) helped to set a total of 86-4. Eddie Myers followed up his 2-17 with 33 and his brother, Will, added 22no as Alne won at 87-5.

Helperby and Clifton Alliance head the second division with five points each.

Helperby overcame Crayke by three wickets. Craig Dodsworth (26) and Andrew Metcalfe (46) took Crayke to 110-6, with Peter Orton (3-17) doing well with the ball. Troy Nolan led Helperby's reply with 46 and they edged to victory at 111-7 despite 4-33 by J Metcalfe.

Jon Gilham (24), Alex Renton (54no) and Alastair Wray (43) helped Clifton Alliance to 174-6 against Raskelf, who were restricted to 85-9 by good bowling from Bob Taylor (4-17) and Tom Ewer (3-32).

There was a close finish at Sheriff Hutton where the home side beat Civil Service. Nick Oswald (56) Ally Raper (26) and Mark Bradley (36) all scored well as Sheriff totalled 139-8, M Whitehead returning an excellent 4-5. Civil Service's reply was led by Will Phelps with 47 but they fell just short by being bowled out for 134.

Huby scored 137-5 at Rowntrees with Hugh Shedden (39no) leading the run-making. When Rowntrees replied, John Patrick made 26, Chris Storey 36 and John Crowe 37 not out to take Rowntrees to 130-4, leaving Huby the victors by seven runs.
