Stamford Bridge completed their first win of the season in Foss Evening Cricket League division one.

Barmby Moor posted a competitive 114-4 with both Mike Brent and Johnny Taylor making 45 while Oli Pimlott took 3-33. Stamford chased down their target in the gathering gloom for the loss of two wickets with Pimlott and his brother Max both scoring unbeaten 37s.

Dunnington v Heworth and Wheldrake v Woodhouse Grange were victims of the weather in division one, leaving Heworth two points clear of Grange before they meet at Sutton-on-Derwent next week.

Division two saw the most play with the matches at Pocklington and Heworth going ahead. Pocklington maintained their lead by demolishing Melbourne by ten wickets. Melbourne were all out for 76 with 15-year-old Ben Thompson making 22 not out while another youngster, Freddie Parry, was Pocklington’s leading bowler with 3-20. Greg Nesbitt (38no) and Dan Croft (33no) then clubbed Pocklington to victory in just 8.1 overs.

The Retreat made 126-4 at Heworth with Salman Syed making an unbeaten 55 and Denny Flynn 24.

In reply, Oliver Sherwood (25) and Will Ravenhall (22) were the leading batsmen for the Heworth youngsters but they fell 33 runs short at 93-6.

In division three, Dunnington made 97-6 against Fulfordgate with Danny Gough (30) and Rob Chipps (20) top-scoring.

A tight fielding display from the home side yielded an economical debut spell of 1-8 from three overs for 15-year-old James Nelson. Fulfordgate comfortably reached their target with 17 balls to spare and five wickets in hand thanks to Dave Baldock’s 25 and despite Adam Dyson’s 3-16.
