THIRD-PLACED York beat second-placed Pocklington by eight wickets in division two of the Foss Evening Cricket League.

Pocklington batted first and made 90-6 off their 16 overs with runs from James Fletcher (25) and Dan Littlewood (36no).

When York replied, Cameron Burdass (33) made a good start at the top of the order and Charlie Elliot hit 25 to help his side to victory with three balls to spare.

The games between Bishop Wilton and Woodhouse Grange, Dunnington and Westow, and Thixendale and Wellington were abandoned.

In division three, Londesborough Park won away at Heworth after they put on 105-8 in their 18.

Ben Morritt (4-0-17-5) bowled brilliantly for Heworth, frustrating the Park batsman and it took an unbeaten Martin Pearson (37no) to help push the score to something defendable.

It was a night for bowling, as Ben Davidson (3-0-8-3) removed the Heworth top order cheaply. Despite a rallying effort from Ryan Whitley (30), they finished short on 82-7 off 18 overs.

The fixtures between Heslington and Tang Hall Tigers, and Stamford Bridge and Bolton Percy were abandoned.

Only Woodhouse Grange and Asgard Vikings were able to get a game on in division one, with Woodhouse Grange claiming the victory.

Bubwith v Osbaldwick, Middleton & North Dalton v Barmby Moor and Yapham v Heworth were rained off.

There was no play in division four. The games falling foul of the weather were Asgard Vikings and Wheldrake, Copmanthorpe and Ovington, and Stockton & Hopgrove and Kelfield.
