UNBEATEN Woodhouse Grange moved eight points ahead of the pack after their latest win in the Foss Evening League first division.

After restricting Dunnington to 102 all out, Grange were swept to a six-wicket victory by Nathan Saltmer’s unbeaten 36 from 26 balls, which included three sixes.

York got back on track by beating North Dalton, whose 120 included 61 from Shaun Tate. Adam Whatley scored a rapid 42 at the top of York’s order but, after wickets tumbled, the Clifton Parkers were indebted to 15-year-old Toby Giddings (19no) to get them over the line in the final over with the last pair at the crease.

Osbaldwick’s batsmen blew Heworth away as they made the most of the short boundary at Elmpark Way with a string of sixes. Tom Young (76) and Jacob Smith (53) led the way as Osbaldwick piled up 211-4. Heworth were never in the chase as Ben Richardson kept it tight with 4-32.

Ted Donkin fell agonisingly short of three figures when smashing an unbeaten 97 to help Pocklington rack up a healthy 157-4 in 20 overs against Stamford Bridge. Andy Anderson (3-24) took out Bridge’s top three batsmen before Billy Higgins picked up two wickets in two balls. Bridge had a go towards the end with Andrew Healey (32no) and Matthew Beckett (29no) the top scorers as they closed on 140-6.

An opening stand of 73 by Paul Van Dijk (48) and Jonny Lister (31) paved the way for a comfortable Bubwith win against Londesborough Park in division two. Park made a disastrous start to their reply with Jack Riley run out off the first ball of the innings and they eventually limped to 107-7, losing by 38 runs.

Giles Smith continued his good form with 61 as Stockton & Hopgrove beat Yapham by five wickets with eight balls to spare.

Dunnington Academy’s surge up the table continued with a win against Bishopthorpe that was completed with more than six full overs to spare.

After losing the valuable wickets of Andrew Seager and Scott Clapham to brilliant catches early in the innings, Bishopthorpe scrapped their way to 97-4. Despite Seager striking in his first over, positive batting from Dan Andrew (40no) and Jonny Andrew (46) quickly wrapped up Dunnington’s win in the 14th over, Dan Andrew finishing things off with a huge six.

A partnership of 50 between Salman Syed (34no) and Robbie Unsworth (18no) enabled unbeaten division three leaders Retreat I to beat Heworth Colts with four overs remaining.

Opener Fida Hussain led Retreat II to victory against Aviva Vikings by hitting 14 boundaries in a classy 71. He was ably supported by wicketkeeper Zaheer Ahmed who found the boundary 11 times in his quickfire 53 not out.
