TRANSFER-LISTED midfielder Michael Potts scored York City’s goal in a 2-1 behind-closed-doors reserve defeat to Championship outfit Hull City yesterday.

Potts, who followed up from his penalty shoot-out conversion at Doncaster Rovers in the Capital One Cup at the weekend, is still available for a move from Bootham Crescent but City chief Gary Mills has no problems with the former Blackburn Rovers reserve’s attitude.

“I know what he is like and I never expected any different from him,” Mills said. “He did well against Hull and will still be called upon if needed whilst he’s still here, whether that’s from the start or off the bench.”

David McGurk and John McReady both missed the match through illness, while Lanre Oyebano’s thigh problem meant he was absent but it is hoped the ex-Histon full-back will resume training by the end of the week.

The club are still waiting on the scan results from striker Jamie Reed ’s hamstring injury with Mills admitting the squad perhaps need strengthening in attack, but that he would not be panicked into making reinforcements.

He said: “Reedy’s gone down so maybe we do need to bring in another striker but it’s not a major issue and I won’t do anything until somebody becomes available who will strengthen us.”
