YORK City reserves laboured to a goal-less draw against Doncaster Rovers at Belle Vue last night.
City even had the benefit of playing against ten men for the bulk of the second half, but though they laid siege to the Rovers goal, they lacked penetration and so let their Pontin's League Division One East hosts off the hook.
Said City's reserve team manager Colin Walker: "We had so much of the ball and we were camped in their half for most of the second half, especially after one of their players was sent off.
"But while it was a solid performance we created only a couple of half chances."
Walker, however, singled out 16-year-old left-winger Liam Shepherd, whose trickery and eager running troubled Doncaster throughout the first 45 minutes.
