IN-FORM midfielder Neil Barrett has insisted that York City will not be intimidated when they travel to Premier League club Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

Like manager Gary Mills, Barrett is targeting a victory from this weekend’s FA Cup third round clash and believes the Minstermen have enough big-game experience to cope with their Reebok Stadium challenge.

Former Chelsea trainee Barrett, who headed City in front against top-flight Stoke during a 3-1 defeat at the same stage of the competition last season, has previously plied his trade in the Championship with Portsmouth.

Ex-Sunderland goalkeeper Michael Ingham has also played at the same level, as has on-loan Leicester City striker Ashley Chambers.

Furthermore, midfielder Robbie Weir is currently being borrowed from Premier League Sunderland, while Ingham is a full international for Northern Ireland.

James Meredith (Derby County) and Peter Till (Birmingham City), meanwhile, both cut their teeth at high-profile clubs and Barrett believes his team-mates will be comfortable playing on the big stage.

He also feels the Minstermen will respond to the support of an away crowd that is expected to number more than 4,000 travelling fans.

Barrett said: “A lot of our players have played at a higher level and participated in matches like these so I’ve no doubt that we will rise to the occasion.
