THE bad weather has claimed York City's Blue Square Bet Premier clash with AFC Wimbledon at Bootham Crescent on Saturday.
A club statement has confirmed that, following consultation with match officials and the Football Conference, the game has been cancelled on safety grounds.
There is a foot of snow on the pitch and the club stated that although there was an outside chance this could be cleared, there was nowhere for it to be removed to.
Several burst pipes in the ground also cannot be repaired until temperatures rise significantly.
The statement continued: “There were also concerns about the safety of AFC Wimbledon's team and supporters making the long journey in such extreme weather conditions and the game will now be scheduled for some time in the New Year.”
