FORMER York City reserve and Scarborough first-team winger Don Barber has died, aged 83.
Mr Barber - a South Bank native - was spotted by York City scouts while playing for a team from Terry's, where he worked throughout his life.
He scored Boro's opening goal in the 1954-55 FA Cup first round tie against former club City who bounced back to win 3-2 - a result which kicked off the Happy Wanderers' surge to the FA Cup semi-finals.
