DEFEAT for leaders Dunnington saw the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division title race blown wide open.

Dunnington were cruising at 2-0 up by the interval against Tadcaster thanks to two Scott Sullivan goals.

However, second half strikes from Sam Farthing, Darren Wilson, Adam Fisher and Brad Dowling ended Dunnington’s 14-match unbeaten run.

Old Malton suffered a third consecutive home defeat, going down 3-0 to Haxby United, the only top-six side to win.

United’s goals came from Chris Dyson and a Gary Newton brace.

Dringhouses registered their first win over Kartiers in five years as goals from Danny Penrose and Joe Hind (2) gave them a 3-0 victory.

Huntington Rovers and Wigginton drew 4-4 after a thrilling finish.

Rovers trailed to a Ben Coates goal but, in the space of only eight minutes, Danny Franks struck twice to add to goals from Lee McQuade and Tom Shirley.

However, Wigginton responded with two goals from Scott Stewart and a second of the day from Coates in the final ten minutes.

Wilberfoss recorded their fourth home win on the trot as they beat York St John 4-3. The ’Foss goals came from Olly Newby (2), Jono Parkin and Richard Lofthouse.

Copmanthorpe beat visitors Tate & Lyle 3-0 with strikes by Danny Leach (2) and Robin Bedford, his 14th league goal of the season.

Darren Fawcett hit a hat-trick as Riccall beat Poppleton 5-0 at home. John Barnitt and Josh Dinsley also scored.

Only three points separate the top five sides in division one.

Leaders Tockwith edged three points clear of the pack following a 4-2 success at Hemingbrough.

Jamie Perkins put Tockwith in front, but before the break Adie Wood levelled for the hosts.

Graham Hutchison restored Tockwith’s lead after the interval and, although Steve Harrison equalised, goals from Hutchison and Stuart Longbottom sealed it.

Easingwold have climbed into second after a 2-1 win at Post Office. Danny Walton’s opener for the hosts was wiped out late in the first half by John Hunter.

Easingwold took the points with a second-half goal from Andrew Metcalfe junior.

Malton & Norton notched up their first win in four games with a 2-1 home success over fellow challengers York RI.

Paul Boyes and Simon Collins hit the Ryedale side’s goals, with Liam Keenaghan converting a penalty for the visitors.

Four goals from Adam Garner and a Shane Singleton hat-trick helped Thorpe end a run of seven games without a win as they thumped Stamford Bridge 7-4.

James Wilmoth, Nick Shaw, Nick Rank and Simon Connell replied for Stamford.
