New signing Courtney Pitt will have to bide his time for a York City debut.

Having been part of a swap deal that took Simon Russell to Cambridge United, Pitt was unable to play in Saturday’s game and cannot feature against Newport tomorrow having already played for the Abbey Stadium outfit in the FA Trophy.

But Foyle is looking forward to selecting Pitt in his squad, saying: “We have taken a chance to freshen things up by bringing Courtney Pitt in, who I’ve admired for a long time.

“He can take people on, is great at set-pieces and can provide an outlet on that left side. You need that type of player and we have three now with Adam Smith and Kevin Gall as well."

Foyle added that the loan move to Luton for left-winger Craig Nelthorpe, who has failed to make a senior start for City since his summer move from Oxford, will provide him with the chance to make a fresh start.

He said: “Craig Nelthorpe had the opportunity to move on and it was probably the right time for him and us. I have been able to bring in another quality player and it’s also balanced the books so the chairman’s delighted."
