Sessions ‘A’ completed successive 9-1 wins over Railway ‘B’ and University ‘A’ to return to the top of division one in the NEDL York and District Table Tennis League.

Mick Wilcockson and Richard Moss were unbeaten for Sessions.

Title rivals Coneysthorpe ‘A’ kept up the chase, whitewashing Holgate ‘B’.

A fine display from Paul Robertson ensured a 6-4 win for Railway ‘A’ over Coneysthorpe ‘B’.

Shepherds ‘A’ overcame Holgate ‘A’ 6-4, despite John Farmery playing well for the losers.

Pride of place in division two goes to bottom club NEDL/Bootham who, after 11 defeats this season, drew with Holgate ‘D’, whose Alan Balmforth was unbeaten.

NEDL/Bootham had earlier crashed 9-1 to leaders Railway ‘C’, whose Jane and Jeff Cohen were undefeated.

BT ‘A’ did well to hold promotion-seeking Bootham ‘B’, who have had 19 points deducted for fielding an ineligible player, though Gareth Bryning was in top form for the Conservative Club.

Despite three singles wins from the returning Nigel Thorn, Sessions ‘B’ went down 6-4 to Bootham ‘C’, with a 13-11 final game success in the doubles seeing the winners home.

Terry Nicholson won his singles for Sessions ‘B’, but it was not enough to prevent second placed Holgate ‘C’ edging it 6-4.

Tim Smith and Jane Cohen guided leaders Railway ‘C’ to an 8-2 win at Bootham ‘C’.

Promotion hopefuls Aviva ‘A’ edged out Railway ‘D’ in division three thanks to Ernest Omane-Kodie. They were then held to a draw by rivals Bootham ‘D’, who were grateful to Richard Collyer.

Leaders Shepherds ‘C’ are coasting towards the title, but they were pushed all the way by Holgate ‘E’, who found Paul Kozyra just too good.

Steve Long was in good form for Shepherds ‘D’ as they were held to a draw at Railway ‘D’.

Division four leaders Railway ‘F’ went down 6-4 to a Pete Corner inspired Bootham ‘E’. Mike Belton saw Holgate ‘F’ to a 7-3 win at Hartrigg Oaks.

Another veteran, Dennis Chatterton was in tenacious form as he helped Aviva ‘B’ to a draw with Railway ‘E’.

Pete Taylor claimed a maximum as he steered Sessions ‘C’ to an 8-2 win over Railway ‘G’.
