THE county’s football programme suffered for a fifth weekend due to the winter weather.

Pickering Town’s FA Vase tie at home to Marske was postponed, while Selby Town, Tadcaster Albion and Scarborough Athletic were also left without a game in the Northern Counties East League.

The only league game played was the premier division clash between Bridlington and Dinnington, which Brid won 4-0.

Selby’s trip to Shirebrook has been rearranged for Wednesday, April 7, while Pickering’s Vase game is scheduled to be played tomorrow (7.45pm).

Pickering’s home tie against Staveley Miners in the NCEL League Cup third round has been switched to Tuesday, February 23 as the Pikes are now playing Kirkbymoorside in the North Riding Senior Cup on Tuesday, January 26.

Scarborough will travel to Winterton on Wednesday, March 10, while Tadcaster’s division one game at home to Appleby Frodingham will now be played on Tuesday, March 16.

Only four games went ahead in the UniBond League premier division and division one north, with Harrogate Railway’s trip to Rossendale called off.

Harrogate Town’s Blue Square North game against Stalybridge Celtic, which was switched from Wetherby Road to Stalybridge, also fell foul of the weather.

There was only one game played in the entire York Minster Engineering Football League, with Nestlé Rowntree beating division one hosts Tockwith 6-2.

Terry Taylor broke the deadlock after ten minutes and he then doubled Nestlé’s lead on 22 minutes with a stunning 30-yard drive.

The hosts responded through Stuart Longbottom, before Wayne Scaife made it 3-1 to Nestlé.

Tockwith rallied again through Andy Walker, but Scaife scored his second on 70 minutes and Nestlé added goals from Paul and Pat Noon.

Only three games survived in the RJF Homes Beckett League, with Heslerton and Gillamoor drawing 1-1 and Thornton-le-Dale beating Old Malton 3rds 3-2 in division one and Rillington Athletic Reserves beating Amotherby & Swinton 3rds 3-1 in division two.
