YORK City are looking for local assistance to help their preparations for next month’s FA Cup trip to Premier League Stoke City.

The Minstermen, who are also chasing a Blue Square Premier play-off place, are searching for alternative training facilities over the winter months with their Wigginton Road base now virtually waterlogged.

City boss Martin Foyle would like to hear from anybody with a well-drained pitch in North Yorkshire, preferably artificial.

He said: “Our training pitch is just about flooded. It’s so heavy and sticky at the moment, which is the last thing you want when you are playing lots of games because that’s when pulls and strains happen. “We are on the lookout for better training facilities in the area and, if there’s anybody out there who can lend us the use of a full-size artificial pitch, we would be very grateful.”

Anybody willing to answer Foyle’s SOS call should phone the club on 01904 624447.
