BLUE Square Premier play-off hopefuls Stevenage have been installed as favourites to lift the FA Trophy, but the underdogs tag does not faze York City boss Martin Foyle.

On the road to Wembley and the Trophy final on May 9, his Minstermen have knocked out promotion contenders Oxford and Kidderminster.

He added: “We’ve done so well considering our early games in the competition were very tricky. We went to Northwich and Oxford and won, and then did well to get a replay at Kidderminster and beat them on penalties.

“Now we’ve got this far, we don’t want to be disappointed on the day. We are certainly underdogs, but that can sometimes be a good thing.

“(Stevenage boss) Graham Westley is very confident of winning the Trophy. Fair play to him.

“Confidence is a good thing, but I will just sit quietly and make sure that we are organised. We will watch and analyse their games and show the players the good and bad in their team so, hopefully, they can capitalise on that information.”

Having defeated Kidderminster 13-12 in a marathon penalty shoot-out victory in the last 16, Foyle would also hold no fear should the Trophy be settled on spot-kicks but does not intend to practice them before May 9.

He said: “If it does go to penalties then so be it. It’s 50-50 then, though as we saw when Everton beat Manchester United nerves can take a hold on you.

“It would be nice to win it in 90 minutes but that’s not easy in a cup final sometimes.

“We didn’t practice penalties before and scored 13 out of 13.”
