WEMBLEY-BOUND York City today announced a massive May tie-up with York Races.

The racecourse is to celebrate City’s forthcoming visit to Wembley in the final of the FA Trophy on May 9 by giving York supporters reduced admission to the race day on Saturday, May 30.

All adults who buy a match ticket for the Wembley final from the York City ticket office will now also receive a voucher from York Racecourse which will entitle them to reduced rate entry of only £10 for the Grandstand and Paddock and £20 entry to the County Stand for the meeting on the last Saturday of next month.

York Racecourse has also invited manager Martin Foyle and all the York City team to join them at Knavesmire as their special guests on May 30.

The team will then have the opportunity to mingle with supporters and racegoers and celebrate the achievement of reaching the FA Trophy final.

And if City manage to prevail over Blue Square Conference rivals Stevenage in the final in just over a month’s time, then the FA Trophy will take pride of place among the City contingent at the racecourse.

Saturday, May 30 also marks FA Cup Final Day and York Racecourse will be showing the match uninterrupted on a special large screen during the day to continue the football theme.

Of the football-inspired raceday, York Racecourse head of marketing James Brennan said: “We’re proud to be part of the sporting community in the city and it’s very exciting that York are going to Wembley.

“Watching any sport live as part of a large crowd adds to its thrill and lets you get close to the action, so the combination of live racing, our local football heroes and a famous football occasion promises a great day.”

She said: “It is great York Racecourse is supporting the club and our fans in this way.
