THE cold snap failed to halt the march of red-hot premier division leaders Haxby United in the Leeper Hare York & District Football League.

While a host of matches were frozen out, United thrashed Malton & Norton 7-1 at home and breezed past the 50-goal mark for the campaign.

A rampant Haxby side were quickly into their stride against their Ryedale visitors as they led 3-0 at the break and went on to hit seven goals for the third time this season.

A John James hat-trick led the rout, with the other goals coming from Dale Waddington, Andy Green and Ashley Hill, who scored for the fourth game on the trot.

Malton & Norton have now gone eight away games without a win.

Having started the season with two defeats, Dunnington extended their unbeaten run to 12 games with a 1-0 win at Dringhouses.

Scott Sullivan, who last month hit four goals past Dringhouses, finished off an excellent team move to score the only goal of the game on 25 minutes.

Huntington Rovers had gone 40 games without an away draw but they registered their second successive share-all on the road when they drew 0-0 with Wilberfoss.

The Tockwith revival is slowly picking up momentum.

The basement side recorded their third win of the season as they beat visitors Poppleton 2-1 on Saturday.

Andy Walker’s tenth goal of the season gave the hosts a tenth minute lead.

Although it was cancelled out an hour later by Pop’s Hungarian Istvan Kasea, Jamie Perkins secured the points for Tockwith with an unstoppable volley from the edge of the box which skimmed the underside of the bar on its way in.

It was a good day for division one leaders Riccall United, who were without a game as the three sides chasing them all failed to win.

Second-placed Thorpe United were fortunate to extend their unbeaten home run to seven games as Adam Gilliland snatched a late equaliser to earn a 3-3 draw with Nestlé.

Earlier, Dean Woods and Dave Heron had twice given Thorpe the lead, only for both goals to be cancelled out by Carl Stewart, who completed his hat-trick.

Third-placed Amotherby crashed to their first home defeat in 11 games as they went down 4-0 to Bishopthorpe, with Joe Gardham and Andy Haigh each bagging a brace.

Easingwold recorded their first away win since December 2007 as they defeated fourth-placed York RI 2-1.

Alex Ross and Andrew Metcalfe junior scored for the visitors, with Shaun Stockdale replying for the hosts.

Richard Dwight and Mark Neale scored for Ouseburn in their 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge. Chris Allen hit the home side’s goal.
