DAN BATTY remains unavailable for York City, with manager Adam Hinshelwood confirming the return of winger Callum Harriott for tomorrow night’s trip to Solihull Moors.
York have been without Batty for their previous two matches, after a back spasm forced the deep-lying midfielder to miss out on the 3-0 win against AFC Fylde, as well as the goalless draw at Aldershot Town on Saturday.
Hinshelwood was previously hopeful that Batty would be available for tomorrow night’s trip to Solihull Moors (7.45pm), but admitted that he was not willing to rush the midfielder back and risk further setbacks in his recovery.
However, Hinshelwood has confirmed that winger Harriott is back available for selection having missed Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Aldershot through a tightness in his muscles, after opening his account for the season with a composed strike against Fylde the week prior.
“Callum Harriot is (available), Dan Batty is out,” Hinshelwood confirmed.
“He has had his boots on for the first time, but he’s probably not got enough distance into his legs.
“He’s probably been 10 days now, back in training, so I think that the sensible option would be to wait until Saturday for Dan.
“I think that it would be silly to rush Dan back, he has been so instrumental for us having such a good start to the season.
“We want him back and to stay back.
“He’s come through today and ticked that off okay, and then he’ll pick up his training towards the back end of the week and be ready to go for Saturday.
“There’s no injury concerns, other than Dan still and the other guys that are missing, but squad-wise, we’ve gained Callum Harriot for the squad on Tuesday night.
“But Callum Harriot will be available for us.”
The York manager also confirmed that he was likely to rotate the squad for their visit to Solihull in order to retain fitness, with City set to play three matches in the space of seven days.
Hinshelwood hopes that by keeping squad selection fresh, his side will be able to remain on the front foot and maintain their high press style.
The boss admitted: “We will have to [rotate]. The squad is able to do that.
“I think it’s important that we keep it fresh with how we want to play; we want to be on the front foot, press teams and play with a high intensity.
“In order to do that, you’ve got to make sure the players are fresh enough to do that as well.
“It’s a really big week for us, back-to-back away games on the road and then a really tough game here on Saturday so I think all the players are going to be needed.
“We want to utilise it.
“With the players playing week in, week out, it will give them that match sharpness as well.
“We want to utilise it, but we’re only able to utilise it if the players are turning up to play with that intensity and that freshness, so it’s important that they do that.
“But I’m really happy with the squad that we’ve got and I feel that we’re capable to go Saturday, Tuesday now.
“We need to be ready to go, it’s a tough ask.”
