YORK Valkyrie are the favourites to lift the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup, according to betting sites.
Sky Bet and William Hill have Lindsay Anfield’s side 2/1 to seal victory at Wembley Stadium on June 8.
The Valkyrie reached the semi-finals of last year’s competition before Faye Gaskin’s last-gasp drop-goal handed St Helens a 17-16 victory at the Totally Wicked Stadium.
Saints then went on to defeat Leeds Rhinos 22-8 in the first Final to be held under the famous arch in August.
Lois Forsell’s Rhinos are 5/2 to go one better than last year’s runners-up finish, whilst St Helens are 3/1 to lift the trophy for a fourth consecutive year. Wigan Warriors are also among the favourites at 7/1.
York begin their quest for the Challenge Cup on Sunday (2pm) when they travel to dual registration club Sheffield Eagles for their first Group One match.
They will then host newly-promoted Featherstone Rovers on April 7 (12pm).
