YORK-BORN tennis talent Paul Jubb missed out on a second ATP Challenger title as he was narrowly beaten by Clement Chidekh in the Lexus Glasgow Challenger Men's Singles Final.

Having lost the first set 6-0, the Frenchman prevailed to take the final two 6-4, 6-1 as he rallied to claim a maiden title in an hour and 55 minutes.

Jubb had defeated Wimbledon Boys’ champion Henry Searle 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 and German Elmar Ejupovic in a two-and-a-half hour epic to reach the final, but exhaustion caught up with him as he failed to capitalise on two break points to go 5-3 up in the second set after taking the first with ease.

In fact, the 24-year-old had lost just 13 points on his way to an emphatic opening six games in his first ATP Challenger final since 2022.

But the Frenchman sensed his opportunity, settling into the match to break twice on his way to claiming the second set.

And Chidekh took that momentum into the deciding set, breaking Jubb’s opening service game to give him the advantage that he needed to serve out victory.

Despite his disappointment in the Final, it has been an outstanding week for Jubb, his fine form in Glasgow seeing him jump 89 places in the rankings to world number 413.
