EX-YORK District Schoolboys, North Yorkshire District and i2i Football Academy players Max Tweddle and Owen Marshall were both awarded an All-American Award this month for their separate football achievements in the USA.

Max and Owen met in 2011 playing for York District Schoolboys and went on to represent North Yorkshire. Their paths in football have since seen them play in the USA.

Owen grew up in York playing football at Wigginton Grasshoppers and Copmanthorpe FC, before having spells in non-league at the likes of Pickering Town FC, Barton Town, Tadcaster Albion and Garforth Town.

In 2019, Owen received a scholarship to join Wingate University in North Carolina where he completed a four-year degree program and a Masters in Accounting.

Throughout his time, Owen played for the Wingate University Soccer Team and was awarded the All American award in 2022.

In 2023, Owen received the Scholar All America Player of the Year honour, for his academic achievements as well as his football accomplishments. Wingate won their league in 2023 and ranked 20th in the country.

After completing a degree in Sports Management at Leeds Beckett University and playing for York team F1 Racing, Max went on to play in non-league footballer with Goole AFC and later Emley AFC.

Max received a soccer scholarship in 2022 from the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) where he completed an 18-month Masters in Business Administration (MBA) while playing for the University soccer team. UIS won their league in 2023, and ranked 17th nationally.

Both Max and Owen graduated from their Masters Degrees in December 2023, and received the All-American Awards at the United Soccer Coaches Annual Convention this January in Anaheim, outside Los Angeles in California.
