TADCASTER Albion have issued a plea for help after being struck by flooding for the FIFTH time this season.

Tadcaster, who play their football at the So-Trak Stadium, have suffered their fifth flood of the season, putting future home matches at great risk.

The Brewers’ home stadium is situated next to the River Wharfe, meaning that excess rain at this time of year causes flooding and damage to the So-Trak Stadium.

It also affects the football club’s income with matches being postponed and the status of the pitch being damaged, with Tadcaster’s Northern Counties Eastern League premier division match against Goole AFC on Saturday, January 13 (3pm) now at risk of being postponed and re-arranged for a later date.

It will come as unwelcome news to the Tadcaster manager Mick O’Connell, with back-to-back matches against Silsden also being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch in the past five days, and the Brewers’ season facing a halt as volunteers work to get future home matches on.

The current status of the River Wharfe is that the river level is falling slightly, but damage remains on the football club’s stadium.

The club have therefore issued a plea to their supporters on social media for any help from volunteers to help clear the pitch, saying: “With the fifth flood this season being by far the worst so far, the club is facing challenges getting games on, but even worse with no home games cash flow is being hampered.

“We will work to get games on when the water recedes, with the help of our volunteers.

“If you want to help in any way please get in touch. We appreciate your support.”
