TADCASTER Albion advanced to the next round of the FA Vase with a thumping victory over Boro Rangers.

Boro had the first chance in the second minute when Stuart Rose crossed for the incoming Callum Hickman, but Joe Wilton was quickly off the line to quell the danger.

Tadcaster came straight back with good play between Stewart and Kieran Greenway but the cross from the byline eluded Norman at the far post.

On six minutes Norman’s shot was parried into the path of Stewart, who found the net but was clearly offside. Lewis Stephens then put Stewart through again but his shot was wide.

The Brewers kept up the pressure and took the lead in the eighth minute when Greenway’s effort was spilled by Boro goalkeeper Horner, and Norman was on que to tap it home.

Boro had a rare chance when a 30-yard free kick from Turner found Rose loitering with intent, but he stroked the ball over the crossbar.

Nevertheless, you sensed that the pressure would result in another goal; it duly arrived on 18 minutes when a long ball out of defence from Dan Thirkell was picked up by Stewart, who coolly put it under Horner and into the net to double Tadcaster's lead.

Boro were finding their feet and putting together some attractive passing manoeuvres.

With four minutes to go before the break Tad made it three; Greenway put an inch perfect ball out to Stephens on the right, as Albion surged forward. The striker crossed to the waiting Norman for a simple conversion.

However, just before the half time whistle, Albion dropped their guard allowing Hickman to capitalise from close range, despite an initial great save from Wilton.

On 63 minutes, Rangers picked up where they left off with Rose through to a one on one with Wilton but his strike sailed over the crossbar.

Wilton made a fine save diving low to his right to deny Guy. before Wilton again produced a two-handed punch to clear a well taken corner.

On 86 minutes The Brewers effectively put the game to bed; Norman, a threat all afternoon, beat one player before shooting goalwards – the stand in keeper did well to parry the shot but Hines followed up to guide the ball into the back of the net.

It ended 4 – 2 but the Taddy players knew they had been in a real battle.
