TADCASTER Albion cruised to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup with a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Allotment Celtic.

It was a blustery day on North Tyneside as Tadcaster took to the pitch against West Allotment Celtic from the Northern League Division One.

There were three changes from the team that narrowly defeated Bottesford Town the previous week with Elliot Holmes returning, Joe Crosby in the starting line-up and James Moorby, on loan from Harrogate Town, making his debut at left back.

Tadcaster were quick off the mark with an early chance when Crosby put Lewis Stephens through but the shot was straight at keeper Gladstone.

Allotment had to wait until the quarter hour mark for their first meaningful attack but Joe Wilton was perfectly placed.

Cyril Gerrard had an opportunist shot from distance but again Wilton had read the situation .

With the wind making conditions difficult for both sides, chances were few and far between.

On the half hour the influential Holmes broke from defence to put Crosby through but the hosts held firm and could have sneaked the lead just before half time when Callum Larmouth beat the trap for a one on one, firing wide of the post. Sam Kitchen was crunched just before the whistle but was able to resume, albeit in some discomfort, after treatment.

Goal less at the interval was a fair reflection of the game thus far.

Crosby had the first chance as play resumed but the swirling wind saw the ball land in the field behind the goal.

Nevertheless, on 54 minutes Tadcaster made the essential break through; Greenway burst from defence to put Crosby away down the line – his inch perfect cross into the box found Stephens racing forward for a tap-in beyond Gladstone.

Taddy could have doubled their tally moments later but Stephens, almost through for a one on one, was clattered yet again for which Baltazar was yellow carded. Stephens replied on 68 minutes, after good work from Crosby, with a low goal bound shot from outside the box which was just tipped away by the goalkeeper.

The momentum of the game was, however, about to change on 70 minutes; Holmes jumped highest to meet the incoming corner beating keeper Gladstone but Baltazar caught the ball on the goal line, earning him a red card dismissal and Tadcaster a penalty. Joe Crosby stepped up to blast the ball into the far corner sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

It revitalised the away side with Stewart nut-megging his opponent to send Greenway down the right flank but his low drive hit the upright.

Owen’s solo effort on 82 minutes was caught by the wind.

West Allotment battled on until the referee Cowans blew the final whistle.

A magnificent win for the Brewers against tough opposition who pushed them all the way. A good team performance earning the club £1444 in prize money and a place in the draw for the First Round Qualifying.
