YORK City have signed their second centre-back of the day, bringing in Solihull Moors defender Callum Howe on an undisclosed fee.

Howe joins York for an undisclosed fee from fellow Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors, who he spent the last four years with, accumulating over 100 appearances.

Yorkshire-born Howe has experience of promotion from the National League after his successful stint with Lincoln City in the 2016/17 season, also featuring in the 2019/20 National League Team of the Year.

Having began his career with Scunthorpe United during their English Football League days, Howe had loan spells with the likes of Bradford (Park Avenue), Gateshead and Alfreton Town, before securing a permanent move away to Lincoln.

The defender had spells with Southport and Eastleigh in his time at Lincoln, before going on to feature in the Football League for the likes of Port Vale and Harrogate Town.

Howe becomes the second signing of the day after York announced the addition of Aldershot Town defender Tyler Cordner this afternoon, also for an undisclosed fee.

It also adds more leadership into the back-line, after Howe captained Solihull last season.

Howe is now Michael Morton's tenth signing of the Summer window, taking the new faces at the club into double figures, whilst remaining in talks with a striker and taking a look at the trialists within the squad.

York fans will be able to watch their new man in tomorrow's friendly with Sheffield Wednesday at the LNER Community Stadium (1.30pm), as Morton's side kick-off their pre-season schedule.
