An estate in North Yorkshire is to open its private lake to visitors for wild swimming.
Swinton Estate, near Ripon, is offering visitors the chance to make use of its private lake through the launch of its wild swimming summer season.
The lake is open to both guests of the Swinton Park Hotel and day visitors and allows for a wild swimming experience in the idyllic natural surroundings of the North Yorkshire countryside.
The experience is suitable for all levels but, based in one of the smaller lakes on the estate, is said to be ideal for anyone first testing the waters.
Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, owner of Swinton Estate, said: “Swimming in open water is an amazing way to connect with nature, and we are delighted to offer this activity to our guests in such a beautiful location.

“The lake is open to hardy bathers all year round, but we officially launch our wild swimming season in May, when the water is usually a temperate 12C-16C – still invigorating, and some people may prefer to wear a wetsuit!"
Wild swimming is free for anyone staying on the estate.
Day visitors can purchase a Parklands & Gardens Pass for £10 per day, or £60 for the year.
Prebooking is recommended, with a maximum of eight swimmers at a time and tow floats provided.
The wild swimming season runs from 7am-9pm and ends in September.
