YORK City’s newest recruit Cedric Main feels that the club is the ‘perfect place to be’, after becoming Michael Morton’s second Summer recruit.

Main joins the Minstermen from Vanarama National League North side Blyth Spartans, after accumulating 16 goal contributions last season and helping Blyth to survival in the sixth tier.

He’ll be a familiar face to York supporters who attended City’s Isuzu FA Trophy match with Blyth in December, after the Minstermen cruised to a 5-0 victory.

The 25-year-old forward is now keen to get going at the LNER Community Stadium, and has admitted he has already began training ahead of pre-season fixtures with Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough and Tadcaster Albion.

“I’m very, very pleased. Obviously I’ve played here before with Blyth and it is a beautiful stadium, a good team as well to play against so I’m very pleased to get it over the line." Main told the club media team.

“The moment I stepped onto the pitch, the only thing I had on my mind was wishing that I could play on a pitch like this every week.

“The pitch was nice, it felt like it was a good team with some good players and after having a chat with the manager, I just feel like it is the perfect place to be.

“I started playing in Holland, I wasn’t born in Holland but I played there almost my whole life.

“I played there for football with FC Groningen, I played there a couple of years ago and made the decision to go abroad to Spain.

“I played there for a few years and it was a good experience to be there, but now I’m in the UK I am happy that I made the decision to come to the UK because I ended up here now.

“I would describe myself as a strong player, I’ve got a lot pace, I like to dribble and I like to get fans off of their seats.

“I just like to enjoy the game, score goals as well and get assists and just enjoy the game.

“I can’t wait! I wish it was next week, I think this was the perfect time to get everything over the line so I can go on holiday in a week’s time.

“After that I will just be ready, I’m already ready as I’ve been training for pre-season.”

Main also said on social media: “Blessed. All the glory to Jesus! Can’t wait for the new season @YorkCityFC.”
