YORK City manager Michael Morton has admitted that the ownership row between Glen Henderson and the Supporters' Trust is 'not ideal'.

The Trust released a statement this morning revealing that the prospected takeover had collapsed, and that Henderson had allegedly refused to pay the staff and the players of the club.

Morton revealed that Henderson had held a meeting with the players this morning too, to offer them reassurances on their future.

“It’s obviously not ideal." Admitted Morton.

"It’s one of those where we had to speak to the players today, everybody has been paid so credit to the club as that has been dealt with.

"I’m not too sure on the details as of how it was sorted. The chairman also came in this morning and spoke to the players, and sort of put his point across to make sure everybody feels settled and that if he is going to be here, then they will be supported and that there won’t be any issues like this.

“Ultimately as a team we have just got to keep concentrating on what we’re doing.

"Like I said, it’s not ideal but we’ve just got to keep doing what we’ve got to do. The lads were superb on the training pitch today.

“We’ve just got to make sure we take that into another training session at the weekend and into Monday.

“Just stick with us. We’re all in that same situation and we all feel the same.

"Be frustrated, but what we can’t do is let it affect us. We know what the main objective is and the main objective is staying in this league, and then hopefully we’ll get clarity on what that looks like at the top in the next week or so.

"But we’ll all stick together, I’ve said it to the players, it’s been a tough season in terms of off-the-pitch and we’ve just got to stick together on-the-pitch.

Morton was rewarded with a new contract that sees him remain in charge of the first team until the end-of-the-season, which the York manager is delighted with.

“Not too much changes because I’ve sort of been in this role anyways.

"It’s sort of a rolling contract. I’ve said to the Trust and I’ve said to Glen that I want to try and stay at York and I want to try and support York in anyway I can, obviously being a York lad.

“We’ve been going back and forth with them in terms of what the club looks like in the next year or so.

“But I’m delighted obviously being a York fan and hopefully I can use some of my experience in terms of helping the club to move forward.

“I’ve been talking to both parties. I’ve made it clear to both of them because obviously we all know it’s not been easy, to talk to two different people, but I spoke to both parties and put my point across in terms of how I felt I could help the club moving forward.

"I’ve had some good chats with both of them, I just wanted to lay that out there and say look I feel like I can help moving forward. In terms of what role that is, that’s up to them.

"But obviously the role right now is managing the team until the end of the year and keeping them in this league."
