YORK City have confirmed that Michael Morton has signed a permanent deal with the club to remain as first-team manager until the end-of-the-season.

Morton originally joined York as assistant manager to previous manager David Webb, who was sacked after just 69 days in charge.

The former Tadcaster Albion manager was then instated as interim manager to help steer City through a tough run of fixtures, managing four victories in 12 matches.

Morton has accumulated 14 points from a possible 33 Vanarama National League matches, seeing the Minstermen currently sit in 17th position with five points separating York from the relegation zone.

On his new contract, Morton told the club website: “Things don't change from our side, we know what our goal is across these last 6 games.

“The staff, players and fans all need to stick together to keep this great club in the National League.”
