DANNY ROWE has described York City as a 'big club', after making the deadline day loan switch from Chesterfield.

Rowe joined York from the Spireites on a loan deal until the end-of-the-season, after falling out of favour at the Derbyshire club.

Having made just 24 appearances over three seasons with the club, Rowe has struggled with his health, but is eager to prove himself at York after interim manager Michael Morton snapped up the striker.

And Tuesday night's match against Scunthorpe United at the LNER Community Stadium (7.45pm) could be a first appearance for Rowe at City's current ground, having previously played against the Minstermen at Bootham Crescent.

“I know it’s a big club, I’ve played against them in the past." Rowe admitted to the York City media team.

“I’ve not actually played at the new ground, but I remember they had a good following at the old place. It’s a good club.”

Rowe made the move on the Vanarama National League deadline day, and is available for selection ahead of Saturday's match with Wrexham.

He also believes that City are more than capable of staying up, with the gap between York and the relegation zone now at eight points, after defeating Dorking Wanderers 2-1 last weekend.

“I heard about it about three days ago and just wanted to get it done, get out and play some games, and get fit.

“I’ve seen some games over the season and I think they’re easily good enough to stay up, so we just need to play well, put a few performances in, and get the results.

“The aim is obviously to stay up and try and climb the table.”
