YORK City's deadline day recruit Danny Rowe 'will score you goals' following his loan move from Chesterfield, according to Spireites supporter Charlie Walden.

The powerful striker has seen plenty of success in the lower-leagues, impressing across multiple clubs despite only making his professional debut at 21-years-old.

Rowe is most well-known for his prolific stint with AFC Fylde from 2014 to 2020, in which the striker scored 155 goals in 241 games and managed 0.64 goals per game.

His most clinical season was in 2016/17 Vanarama National League North season, as Rowe spearheaded the Coasters to promotion to the Vanarama National League when scoring 47 goals in 42 league matches.

However, health issues have seen Rowe manage just 24 appearances in three years for the Spireites, prompting a loan move back to AFC Fylde in the first-half of this season, where he netted two goals in nine matches.

The 34-year-old has now signed on a loan deal until the end-of-the-season, and could make his Minstermen debut in Saturday's match against Wrexham.

But despite not having the desired impact at Chesterfield, Charlie is sad to lose a 'top player' to York.

"I’m happy for Danny, he’s had such bad luck over the last year and a half." Admitted Charlie.

"We are losing a top player on his day when fit and in good health, I believe it’s a great deal for all involved.

"The great thing about Danny Rowe is he can be such a versatile player.

"You can play him as your out and out number nine, which he excels at, or he can play behind the striker where he can get involved in the build up play. He does both well but he’s probably better as an out and out striker.

"[Rowe has] Cutting edge - he will score you goals and put away the goals strikers should score.

"The man hits a free kick like I’ve never seen before they are wonderful. I think most of all you are getting a lad who loves football and is an upmost professional though.

"His best moment for me would be his header against Halifax in the play-offs last season because you could just see how much it meant to him, after such a tough season of him out on the sidelines."
