YORK CITY interim manager Michael Morton has confirmed that both Lenell John-Lewis and Alex Whittle are back in contention for Saturday's match with Wrexham.

Club captain John-Lewis has been absent for York's last two matches, but has recovered from a knock to feature in a full week of training.

It's the same with Whittle, who has missed the same two matches as John-Lewis.

“Alex Whittle has trained all week and looked fresh and looked lively. Lenny [Lenell John-Lewis] has trained all week as well, so he could be in for contention as well." Morton confirmed.

“We’ve just got to take it as the next game as it comes. We made it clear to the boys that they had to train all week to be fit, and everybody has been back in since Tuesday apart from one or two.

"Lenny’s trained all week, he’s looked sharp and he even wanted to do some extras today.

"I’ve said to the lads today that their attitude and their hunger and what they’ve been doing in training is tremendous, so we’ll just have to see what we feel like is the right team for Saturday."

It's not the same good news for goalkeeper Ethan Ross, who is currently unavailable after suffering two concussions throughout the season.

“Ethan Ross is not available." Admitted Morton.

"He’s had a couple of training sessions this week, but he’s still not right. We need to monitor him because there’s days where he feels good and there’s other days where he’s a bit off.

"We’ve just got to make sure we look after him and do what’s best for him.

“We’ve just had a chat with him today and we’ve got to make sure that we do what is right for him at this moment in time.

"We don’t want to rush him, he wants to be playing and he wants to be back but when you're not feeling well and you’ve taken two blows over a short period of time, we’ve got to look after his health.

"He knows where he is at, we just want him to make sure he is feeling well before we start putting him back in."

Mark Ellis has been an integral member of Morton's side since joining on-loan from Barrow just over a month ago, and has already solidified his spot in the starting eleven.

“You know what he brings to the table, he’s got vast experience and he’s always in the right area on the pitch.

"I think he’s only made one mistake since he’s come in and he was absolutely gutted after that mistake.

"But since then he’s shown what he’s about, he’s obviously dropped down a league and you can see that, but he’s valuable for the team in terms of his experience and how he controls everybody. I thought last week he was outstanding.

“I think he’s played against most people in this league and the league above!

"Everytime we have a conversation on the bus going down he tells us ‘this is what he offers’ but that’s good for us as well, he’s got a real insight on the players in the leagues and he adds a mass value to this side."

Danny Rowe has become the latest player to join the City squad, but Morton is hoping he won't be the last of the day.

“As you can see my phones been going off, so we’ll see!

"There’s a couple of players we have been speaking to so it’s just about getting some game time as well, because there’s quite a lot of players who haven’t played much so there might potentially be someone coming in or going out."
