YORK City are set to complete the signing of Chesterfield striker Danny Rowe before the Vanarama National League deadline.

Rowe, who has previously featured for Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and AFC Fylde, has netted 10 goals in 24 appearances for Chesterfield since joining the club in 2021.

The National League deadline for registering new players is tonight at 5pm.

The Spireites striker was most prolific in his spell with Fylde, where he netted a brilliant 155 goals in 241 appearances and helped the Coasters reach the National League play-off final in 2019.

Rowe will become interim boss Michael Morton's second signing since taking over the role from previous manager David Webb, with Mark Ellis being his first addition.

The 34-year-old forward will likely provide an extra option up front alongside Shaq Forde, Lenell John-Lewis, Manny Duku and Luke James, and could make his debut in Saturday's match against league-leaders Wrexham.

It's expected that Rowe will join on a short-term deal.
