YORK City interim manager Michael Morton has described himself as a 'broken record' after suffering back-to-back 2-1 defeats to Altrincham.

Morton's side were sent crashing out of the Isuzu FA Trophy on Saturday at the expense of Altrincham, before the Robins completed the Vanarama National League double over the Minstermen on Tuesday night after a late winner from James Jones.

It's clear that individual errors are a problem right now for York, and it's something that Morton is becoming more and more frustrated by.

“I'm a broken record. We keep doing the same thing." Admitted Morton.

"I feel like we created more chances than them, there was possession both ways in the first half and then we switch off.

"It was a sloppy goal, I need to look at that again but I think it’s two or three errors. I’m sick of saying it to be fair, they score on the first chance, we then go and create chances.

"In the second half I thought we caused them problems and how we set up the press in the second half was good.

"We had them pinned in most of the second half and then missed the big chances again, and then get sucker-punched by just not stopping the cross.

"We talk about three mistakes, we don’t stop the cross, we get bullied on the header and I don’t know if he [Ryan Whitley] should have saved it or not.

“The players have been saying it has been the same story all throughout the season. We do all the hard stuff, that’s the frustrating thing, we get territory, we play some good football and we create chances.

"And then the basic stuff, in terms of football, which is the easiest stuff. He’s done a cross, competing for the header, I’m frustrated, I am really frustrated.

“I know there was a couple in the second half where we should have scored.

"The game is won or lost in both boxes and we need to win it in those boxes because it’s caused us a few problems, I keep saying to them that it is just the simple stuff.

"The lads in there were just saying that after yesterday, the exact same things that we spoke about have happened again today."
