YORK City have missed out on a potential Isuzu FA Trophy semi-final Yorkshire derby, after failing to defeat Altrincham on Saturday.

Michael Morton’s side fell to a 2-1 loss to Altrincham at the LNER Community Stadium on the weekend, after goals from Jordan Hulme and James Jones meant that Lenell John-Lewis 94th minute goal was merely a consolation.

As a result, Altrincham have advanced to the semi-finals of the FA Trophy, where they will host FC Halifax Town on April 1.

It would have been a third contest of the season between City and Halifax, after York fell to a 1-0 defeat at the Shay Stadium back in October, before a bank holiday Monday tie on April 10.

The result also means that York will face another midweek night tie, due to Barnet advancing past Maidstone United on penalties at the weekend.

Barnet were originally supposed to travel to York on Saturday, April 1, but the fixture will now be rescheduled for a later date as the Bees will take on Gateshead in the other semi-final tie.

This means the Minstermen have a rare weekend off on April 1, with just ten Vanarama National League fixtures remaining.
