MICHAEL Morton has admitted his players were feeling ‘a bit down’ after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday afternoon.

It was back-to-back defeats for the Minstermen, despite enjoying the majority of possession and having more chances than their hosts.

The players were understandably disappointed to leave Victoria Road empty-handed, which Morton appreciates.

“Everybody was a bit down because everybody knew that we had put in a good performance,” Morton admitted.

“It was two mistakes that cost us and I said it in the game before that against Eastleigh, but when you make two or three errors it usually ends up in them creating a chance.

“It wasn’t just one error when we’ve watched it back. We analysed the game yesterday and looked at some clips.

“It’s just little individual errors that has cost us, we’ve just got to make sure that we cut them out moving forward and make sure that we stick to our game plan, be organised and keep making the chances that we have been doing.

“We need to be a little bit more ruthless in both boxes.

“The last two games we have been really calm and collective on the sidelines.

“I thought one of our worst performances was against Yeovil, yet we won the game. Then we’ve put two good performances together and come away with nothing, but that’s the beauty of football.

“The players have been saying even before we came in that it was something that was happening before, they’ve been playing well and then made a mistake.”
