TADCASTER Albion were unlucky to be held to a goalless draw against Consett, as Andy Monkhouse's side continued their season revival.

After celebrating a phenomenal 1-0 victory over North Shields last week, it's key that Tadcaster pick up even more points to avoid an imminent relegation.

With that in mind, Monkhouse named almost the same starting line-up that beat North Shields last week, with the one change seeing Rafa Ferreira taking the place of the injured Des Amponsah.

It was a wet and windy So-Trak stadium on Wednesday night, with the conditions playing a considerable factor in both team's style of plays.

Ferreira tried his luck in just the second minute with a powerful shot but goalkeeper Mark Foden took it well despite the conditions.

Adam Porritt then put Omar Sanyang away down the left flank, but Ferreira was fouled as he collected the ball on the edge of the box; subsequently, Theo Hudson’s free kick hit the wall for a corner.

On 19 minutes Porritt put a brilliant ball over the top for Hudson but his final product was once again the frustrations for Albion.

Young goalkeeper Josh Mazfari has just a signed a one-month loan extension with the Brewers for Huddersfield Town, as the shot-stopper made a comfortable stop from a Consett free-kick.

With the interval ten minutes away, a Consett corner resulted in a melee in the six-yard box but again Mazfari came to the rescue.

Then as The Brewers launched another attack Hudson looked to have been fouled in the area but the referee saw nothing untoward.

And the second half had hardly got underway before Hudson succumbed to an injury and was replaced by Scott Smith.

The hosts were nevertheless soon on the attack and on 50-minutes a slick interchange between Nathan Dyer and Ferreira resulted in a pull back to Sanyang, but his final shot was heroically blocked.

Dyer has proven to be a dangerous option for Tadcaster down the right-hand side, and he nearly opened the scoring as he thumped the ball just over the cross bar – the closest so far for the Brewers..

Porritt then sent the ball over the top for Sanyang but the first touch was a little wide and the subsequent shot was well-blocked.

A long-range effort from Dyer, with 16 minutes left on the clock, was wide whilst two minutes later Matty Slocombe received a yellow card for allegedly elbowing Scott Smith.

With just under ten minutes of normal time remaining, Sanyang set up a half volley for Johnson but again it was agonisingly wide.

Dyer then flashed the ball across the face of the goal but there was nobody there for the simple tap-in.

But with no opportunities being taken for Monkhouse's side, Tadcaster were forced to settle for just a single point, but celebrated back-to-back clean sheets for the first time this season.

Tadcaster are back in action on home soil again this Saturday, with Lincoln United the visitors (3pm).
