MARK COOPER has boldly claimed that if he had York City's strikers at Yeovil Town then he would have the Glovers in the Vanarama National League play-offs.

A late Lenell John-Lewis header sentenced Yeovil to defeat at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday, in a much-needed 2-1 win for the Minstermen.

But Cooper was begrudgingly impressed with the York frontline, and believes it's where his side lack.

"What I actually said was that if we had their two strikers then we would be in the play-offs, that's what I believe." Stated Cooper.

"First of all I was really pleased with the performance. I thought we played really well and I thought we dominated the game.

"In the second half, complete domination of the ball. I think they had two chances, and it's not even a chance their goal.

"The difference is you look at their attacking forwards compared to ours and that's the difference.

"I thought we played really well with the ball, we started great and the first time the ball goes in our box they score.

"We were okay in the first half, no issues, and then we get the goal and we think we're going to go on and win this no problems at all.

"But it was sloppy on the touchline here to let the player go forward, to miss the tackle, cross and it's a free header in the box.

"We weren't under hardly any pressure today, the crowd were on the backs of the York team.

"We totally controlled the second half and the first time the ball comes into our box they score.

"But the amount of positions we got ourselves into in the second half we looked like scoring. We're too nice, our forwards are too nice.

"I might go in there and risk getting my head cut or my nose broke. Whereas with theirs I think one went off with a cut mouth in the first half and the other scored the winner.

"It's clear to see where our problems are."
