BOREHAM Wood will look to inflict 'mayhem' on York City tonight, according to manager Luke Garrard.

York's opponents tonight are yet to lose a league game in 2023, and find themselves just two points adrift of the Vanarama National League play-off positions.

Meanwhile, City have now lost five consecutive matches and are just three points clear of the dreaded relegation zone.

Garrard is eager to not let his players grow complacent ahead of tonight's match, whilst ensuring the Wood pick up three points.

“We’ve debriefed York and hopefully tomorrow night [tonight] we can go and cause mayhem against York." Garrard told Boreham Wood's media.

“They only beat Southend a week ago in the Trophy, 2-0. They’ve lost to Solihull late on with a [Mark] Beck header, they lost to Wealdstone on Saturday.

"They’ve made some changes to the team, Shaq Forde didn’t play and Lenell John-Lewis didn’t play up top against Wealdstone and they are two influential players to the way they play.

“They’ve adopted a back three recently, they’ve brought in Mark Ellis on loan from Barrow so they’ve got some good personnel.

"They were doing a fantastic job under John Askey and then obviously he gets the boot, right or wrong that’s an opinion I won’t pass. But they have got some real key personnel in their group that can cause you problems and we need to guard against that.

“They’re aggressive, they counter-press superbly and they get right up against you.

"They support all over the park and get good deliveries into the box and we need to guard against that.

“There’s no easy game, obviously I’ve been to York previously but not to the new ground so I’m looking forward to that.

"We need to go there and get three points on the board, it’s that simple now.

“The form is still there and to not lose a game in 2023 is pretty impressive.”
